In Mexico Microbiology as such has an added value, it is one more option to benefit of the economic development, fighting unemployment and a high contribution towards the epidemiological surveillance of agricultural, fishing and forest origin basic products. Microbiology allows production and provides an added value to the agricultural, fishing & forest sector product. Microbiology also co-helps marketing with the purpose of generating employment and improvement to the producer’s life quality.
General Objective
The general objective is to prepare professionals with ethical & moral principles who possess competences in areas like searching, analysis, critique, processing, technical and scientific application information in order to know, analyze and solve problems referred to the diagnostic & investigation areas related to Bacteriology, Viriology, Micology, Immunology & Parasitology.
Admission
The applicant should have concluded the sole or general Baccalaureate (High School) in the Chemistry-Biology area, Physics-Mathematics and/or in the Social Sciences & Humanities area with an 8.0 grade average. The candidate should have covered the admissions process that includes taking the EXHCOBA examination, and taking the Microbiology Bachelor’s Introduction course, as well as fulfilling the requirements prescribed by the UAQ’s admissions rules.

Labor Field
Microbiology has a great work field that allows for different institutions and companies to develop always such areas. The Bachelor of Microbiology students will have the mobilitly mechanism. In order to reach such, the disciplinary commission that this study plan makes has provided the task to carry out agreements with different institutions, such as Geo-Scineces, UNAM, CINVESTAV-PIN, IPICYT, Technológico de Celaya, Technológico de Irapuato, COFEPRIS, and Secretaría de Salud (The Secretary of Health), CENACILCA, amongst others.

Environmental Microbiology
Environmental Microbiology is a continuous growing field that uses molecular methods to study the distribution, interaction and function of the environmental microorganism, and the metabolic processes that such have. The Microbiology studies also include environmental pathogens and the use of Genetic Engineering for the development of industrial and medical interest microorganisms.
Microorganism-Plant Interaction
Many microorganisms such as funguses, bacteria, and viruses interact or live in association with plants. The Plant-Microorganism interaction can be beneficial and on the contrary, they can cause certain plant diseases. In order to understand this interaction process, biological, biochemical, physiological and molecular genetics methods have been developed.
Molecular-Cellular Microbiology
The Caenorhabditis elegans free life nematode is a model organism established for the study of many animal biological aspects, including their development and behavior due to their short generation life, small size, simple genetics, and powerful genome resources. Recently, the combination of the automatic detection and the sequencing of the last generation allows to identify C. Elegans mutants at a speed and scale without precedent.
Molecular Epidemiology & Animal Genetics
During the last decades, the pathogen emerging and re-emerging has shown that infectious diseases represent an important risk for the animal populations, including human populations. At the same time, such pathogens play an important central role within the persistence and preservation the species. New focusing and the use of new methodologies have allowed this filed to expand rapidly.
