General Objective of the Medical Investigation Master:
The objective of this course is to form Medical Investigation graduates that would participate in the transformation of the social reality through the generation and application of knowledge. The graduates should be participants in the scientific advances of Biomedicine, Medical Education, Public Health and Geriatric Final theme; therefore, impacting the health systems for the benefit of the population’s health with a solid humanistic, ethical and values formation.

The following attitudes, knowledge and capabilities are desirable characteristics for the students who enter the program:
Knowledge:
The student should have certain knowledge about Medical Sciences in order to interpret the strict methodology and technical problems of such discipline (Any bachelor program related to the Health Field, such degrees being: Medicine, Registered Nurse, Biology, or Chemistry).
- English Reading comprehension (The presentation of an English Text Reading Comprehension at the Faculty of Language and Letters)
Skills to:
- Carry out the handling of computers, basic software and system tools for the search of information.
- Have the capacity to carry out oral and written communications, update, abstraction, analysis and synthesis.
Attitudes:
- A critical and constructive attitude towards all types of problems related to the daily professional practice.
- Being self-critical and tolerate being criticized.
- Having a responsible attitude and ethical principles.

Master in Medical Investigation:
The profile of the Master’s in Medical Investigation is conceived as a group of competences developed by the graduate of postgraduate studies that would allow him, or her to become a characterized professional having:
Knowledge (Theoretical knowledge):
- To analyze at a high level the concepts, methods and necessary techniques to develop quality scientific investigation that would generate a certain knowledge for the solving of priority health problems of the population, and the publication of the results.
- About the scientific method, and its operative mechanisms within the ambience of its orientation.
Capabilities to (Procedure knowledge):
- Design investigation projects that would solve specific medical practice problems adhered to bio-safety and ethical norms, applying the acquired knowledge.
- Use the obtained techniques along with the skills for the recording and analysis of the information necessary to approach the investigation project.
Attitudes (Knowledge Attitudes):
- Self-critique, responsibility and teamwork.
- Disposition for the search and finding the solution to problems within the area of professional work.
- Interest in investigation and teaching, professional ethics and leadership.
Biomedicine Final Theme
Knowledge:
- The purpose of this program is to design investigation projects in the original high quality biomedical field, solving specific problems within the medical practice adhered to bio-safety, and ethical norms that apply to the acquired knowledge. Attending the increase of the analytical capacity that concern the common work field problems, improving the quality of the work done and development within the work’s environment.
Capabilities:
- Being part of multidiscipline investigation groups and being trained to teach quality courses within his/her area. Develop humanistic high spirit attitudes strictly adhered to ethical norms, always with a professional high capacity.
Medical Education’s Final Theme
- The investigating student will acquire the knowledge to design investigation projects within the Medical Education area that would be original and of high quality for the solving of specific problems of the education practice, adhered to the bio-safety ethical norms, and applying the acquired knowledge.
- Possessing the knowledge for elaborating high level Health Science Education Curriculum programs.
- Having the technical capacity to teach and transfer of knowledge to the rest of the health professionals while increasing the quality of professional attention.
Public Health Final Theme
- The student investigator will have the knowledge about the scientific method and its operation mechanisms within the public health environment.
- Designing original and high quality investigation programs in the Public Health area in order to solve specific problems of the medical practice adhered to the bio-safety and ethical norms while applying the acquired knowledge
- The investigating student shall acquire the knowledge about the conceptual bases of the health systems, their structure, function, organization and evaluation, motivating through such a provision of their knowledge in benefit of the quality programs within those systems; furthermore, increasing the quality of the professionals involved.
- The investigator shall transmit the results of his/her investigations to the first level directors of the health institutions that have a resolution capacity.
Final Theme in Geriatrics
- The student should have the knowledge to design high quality and original investigation projects in the Geriatrics field in order to solve specific problems during the medical practice in this population’s group, while adhering to the bio-safety and ethical norms and applying the acquired knowledge.
- The research student should have the capabilities to enable the integration and participation of the older adults in the attention networks of the health services of our society, while revaluating their social function.
Work field:
The graduated students of this Master program may incorporate themselves to upper education institutions in order to participate in teaching activities at a bachelor’s and postgraduate levels accordingly.
