The graduate of the Ph.D. program will be able to work in institutions of higher education, carrying out research projects and providing professorships in the different sub-fields of linguistics. |

| Curricular Plan: | |||
The flexibility of the program revolves around the relationship between the Ph.D. student and the dissertation advisor. It consists only of specialized seminars and research seminars. Students who enter without linguistic training must accredit the basic training seminars: phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics. |

| Acquisition of Phonological Competence | In the Research Seminar, students will work individually with their advisors to formulate their dissertation and make progress on their research. Advisors will meet weekly with the students. The seminar includes discussion and the searching of bibliographical sources, techniques and practice in eliciting information, fieldwork and data collection, data analysis, and the formulation of hypotheses. In order to accredit this seminar it is necessary to assist weekly meetings with the advisor and give periodic presentations of progress made in the dissertation. |
