| Entrance Profile |
|
- Have finished high school studies.
|
- Have an academic level of proficiency in the target language and mother tongue. Students must take a proficiency exam of the target language (English or Spanish), in which they will demonstrate oral expression and writing skills. Candidates who are native speakers of Spanish and would like to enter the Bachelor’s Degree program in Modern Languages in English must pass an internationally recognized exam (TOEFL or FCE) to verify their level.

- Knowledge of the theories and works related to the disciplinary nucleus (linguistic and literary), in order to have a broad interdisciplinary background, forming part of other disciplines such as psychology, anthropology, and sociology, as well as pedagogical areas related to language teaching and learning.

- Possession of professional knowledge in the comprehensive study of the language of study and of Spanish (the mother tongue for the majority of students), as well as the cultural elements associated with the target language.

| All graduates will have the following skills: |
- Professional understanding of the language of study (and the command of another language) in all areas (oral and written comprehension, oral and written expression) through the skills of abstraction and concrete analysis.
|
- In the case of a second language (English or French) as the target language, they will have achieved a professional level (equivalent to level 7 according to the recommendations of the SEP, DGAIR, 07/23/2004, equivalent to 600 or more on the TOEFL exam, or the Cambridge First Certificate or IELTS of the British Council of 7.0 or more.

- In the case of a second language (for Spanish students) or a third language (for any student) they will have achieved the intermediate level of 6.
|
- To be able to identify and make decisions based on the philosophical, psychological, and cultural factors concerning acquisition, use, and command of languages in distinct professional environments.
|
- Ability to read and identify scientific research reports (basic and applied) related to theoretical and applied linguistics, language acquisition and development, literary analysis and criticism, processes of language learning and teaching, translation, and related fields.

- Ability to apply linguistic, literary, and professional knowledge to practical problem solving in distinct fields of work.

- Language and literature teaching at all educational levels.

- Educational administration: creation of study plans, organization and headships in language and literature departments.

- Giving courses and seminars in literary creation.
|
- Graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree program in English and French will be able to carry out translations from these languages to their mother tongue at a professional level.
