University Art & Culture

Theatrical Groups:

Three are the most important theatrical groups in the university: All these groups have their own stages with very colonial scenery speamlly the one used by comicos de la legua, which is an open door stage.

Musical Groups.

The university has two estudiantinas, a male and a female. the first one is older and has won many prices in national and latin american contests. both of the estudiantinas are made up of students from different carriers and once again they are the reflect of a spanish tradition brought by the spaniers.
Another interesting group at the university is "El Costumbre" which is a group doing musical research and rescuing the prehispanic music, instruments and dances. They have great results and trough different presentations they share them with the people.
There are other musical gruops worth mentioning like the Romanza Queretana, Voces, etc. not to mention the various dance groups that are form at the school of fine arts and have among the objectives to preserve folk dance and promote contemporary dance.

Sports

The University offers a great variaty of sport installations, a gymnasium with a wooden basketball and volley court at the old high school building; a recently remodelated soccer field located in the main campus, but the best sport facilities are located at the Unidad Deportiva, where you can find among other things: many basket ball and volley ball courts, tennis courts, swimming pool, baseball diamond, raquet ball and many soccer fields, etc.
We also have under project to be built in the main campus a modern and well equiped gym, an olimpic swimming pool and a multiple purpose auditorium.
with a prior physical resources the university promotes university level sports in many ways and owns a football team (Gatos Salvajes de la UAQ), and an amateur baseball team (grillos de la UAQ.).
